Joyent and Mentez Announce Partnership for Facebook and Open Social Developers

MARIN COUNTY, CALIFORNIA - February 12, 2008: Joyent and Mentez announced a partnership to help over 1000 social network developers launch, and profit from, social network applications deployed on the Facebook and Open Social platforms in South Africa, Turkey, Mexico, Brazil, and Colombia.

These developers are sponsored by Mentez and will have access to free business planning, internet-scale consulting services and Joyent’s unique on-demand infrastructure. Developers are given complimentary access to Joyent Accelerators – next-generation virtual computers that can grow and multiply (or shrink and consolidate) depending on the real world demands faced by Web applications.

“I’ve been very impressed with the way Mentez can identify and bring to market Facebook applications,” said David Young, CEO, Joyent, Inc. “We are thrilled to be helping develop these emerging markets.”

Over 50 applications have been launched in Colombia with the next wave of applications to come from Mexico, Brazil, South Africa, and Turkey.

Juan Franco, CEO of Mentez adds, “Mentez chose to partner with Joyent because they are the leaders in building on-demand web-scale, Facebook-scale applications,” said. ” 15% of Facebook 3rd party application usage runs on Joyent. They are clearly the leaders and we are delighted to be working with them.”

This program is open to Facebook developers around the world. To register for your free Joyent Accelerator, please visit us online.
