Position Summary 

We are currently seeking a Senior Network Engineer for our Global Network Operations team that provides support for the Joyent Cloud data centers.  We are looking for an individual who is an expert with Network Engineering and Operations.  Someone who is technically strong and able to lead people and projects.

Responsibilities

•  Implement and Provide Operational Support for Joyent Cloud Networks

• Troubleshoot network issues and propose long term preventive measures

• Take ownership of network troubleshooting from beginning to resolution

• Interact with other teams to provide escalation support during outages and customer issues even if the problem might not be directly related to the network infrastructure

• Determine operational weaknesses within the existing network infrastructure and present execution plans to overcoming those concerns in a timely fashion

• Review, verify, and perform various IT system maintenance such as backups, upgrades, and patching

• Capacity Planning and BGP Traffic Engineering of Network Resources

• Define Standard Network/Security Operating Process & Procedures

• Documents activities such as downtime, problems, and systems configurations

• Provide Oversight and Training for Network & Security Resources in Joyent 24x7 Operations Center

• Participate in the Network Operations On-call Rotation and other Duties as Assigned

Desired Experience and Skills

• 7+ years Network Engineering and Operations

• 7+ years of Implementation and Support of WAN services and Data Center Networks

• Knowledge of industry trends, standards, and impact on network design, architecture, planning and implementation

• Hands-on experience with major networking vendors: Arista, Juniper MX and SRX, Cisco, and Citrix ADC

• Service Provider and/or Cloud Provider Experience Preferred 

• Expert with BGP and traffic engineering policy on Juniper

• Experience with IDS/IPS, Firewalls, Load Balancers, and WAFs

• Experience with MLAG, VARP, RSTP, and other data center networking technologies

• Experience working in Linux or Unix operating systems

• Experience with open source network monitoring tools and network management protocols (OpenNMS, Rancid, SNMP, syslog)

• Service Provider and/or Cloud Provider Experience Preferred 

• Experience with any of the following is a plus: automation/scripting languages; server and network virtualization technologies; open source software

Additional Preferred Knowledge

• ITIL v2/v3 Foundation Certification 

• MSSP or IT Security Infrastructure consultant a plus

• Instructional delivery and/or instruction design experience

• Scripting language such a Python, Perl, BASH, RegEx

• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)

• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)

• Juniper Networks Certified Internet Specialist (JNCIS)

• Juniper Networks Certified Internet Professional (JNCIP)
